• Six new principals serving in Catholic schools in Archdiocese of Washington (cathstan.org) — Families connected to St. Mary of the Mills School in Laurel will see a leadership change this year, as longtime Catholic educator and parishioner Nicholas Caputo becomes principal for 2026‑27. The Archdiocese of Washington also named new principals at several other regional Catholic schools, but Caputo's appointment directly affects Laurel students, parents, and parish life.
• Stolen kitten used in attempted bank robbery in PG County (thedailyrecord.com) — A rescued kitten that was briefly stolen and carried into an attempted bank robbery has now settled into a calm new life in an apartment in Laurel. The tuxedo cat, Magnolia, was safely recovered by police and later adopted by a Laurel resident, becoming a minor local celebrity after her unusual brush with crime.
