• Kaiser, Duke tapped for ARPA-H's $62.7M autonomous AI bid, Becker's Health IT (tissuepathology.com) — Laurel's Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory will serve as independent evaluator for a $62.7 million federal program to develop autonomous AI tools for heart failure care. While the work is national in scope, it brings high-profile research activity and visibility to the Laurel facility as ARPA-H, Duke, Kaiser, and tech firms collaborate on future patient-facing cardiovascular AI systems.
• Maryland man accused of burglarizing same DC nightclub three times in one week (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A Laurel man has been charged with three second-degree burglary counts after DC police say he repeatedly broke into the same Northwest nightclub over one week, once by claiming he needed to fix a roof leak. Laurel residents should know a local resident is accused, though all charges remain allegations and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
