• 52-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck Killed By Two Separate Vehicles, Both Drivers Flee (thebaynet.com) — A 52-year-old Laurel resident, Ernesto Chocoj Caal, was killed early Sunday after being struck by two vehicles on Laurel Bowie Road near Briarwood Drive, with both drivers fleeing the scene. Prince George's County police are asking anyone with dashcam, home surveillance, or eyewitness information to contact their Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit to help identify the vehicles involved.
   

• Patuxent Oxbow Stream Restoration Project #B588801 (aacounty.org) — If you live in Laurel's Russett community, a major stream and wetland restoration is planned for the Oxbow Natural Area along the Little Patuxent River, with construction possibly starting in summer 2027 via Brock Bridge Road. Anne Arundel County DPW is inviting residents to review plans, attend an upcoming Zoom meeting, and request printed minutes or accommodations so neighbors can weigh in on this environmental project.
   

• WSSC has lifted the emergency water-use restrictions affecting Prince George's County. (thebaynet.com) — Emergency water-use restrictions for Prince George's and Montgomery counties, announced from Laurel, have now been lifted, meaning your tap and fire protection systems are back to normal. WSSC's Potomac plant is running on a temporary electrical setup while crews work on a permanent fix, but officials say power and water production are currently stable and adequate.
