🌱 Bartlett's Bill To Help Domestic Violence Victims + Chess Club
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Laurel.

Good morning, neighbors! It's me again, Alexis Goring, your host of the Laurel Daily.
First, today's weather:
Cooler with some sun. High: 40 Low: 26.
Here are the top three stories today in Laurel:
- Last year, neighbors in Laurel were shocked by the murder of Ryan and Iviana Lee. That tragedy drove Delegate Bartlett to draft HB-887. It is a bill taking aim at domestic violence protective order status hearings. Bartlett's bill would allow victims representing themselves to go before a judge to have their concerns addressed at anytime after they've secured a protective order. (wmar2news.com)
- A virtual meeting was held by the City of Greenbelt partnered with Kittelson and Associates, a transportation and engineering corporation, on February 10. The meeting was held to discuss visioning plans for the Greenbelt Road corridor revision project. The responses gave insight into the problems locals face every day when traveling the most heavily used road in the city which is next door to Laurel. The plan focuses on Greenbelt Road from Baltimore Avenue (Route 1) to Kenilworth Avenue, including the portion of University Boulevard from Greenbelt Road to just before the Route 1 interchange. - A field of six 3-year-old fillies led by 9-5 program favorite Candy Light, will gather in a one-mile maiden special weight as live racing returns to Laurel Park Thursday. The feature is carded second on an eight-race program that begins at 12:25 p.m. Fortune Racing's Candy Light was purchased for $200,000 as a 2-year-old in training last June. She made her first two starts sprinting on the turf, finishing second by a head in her late October unveiling. (Past The Wire)
