Autumn in Laurel

Riverfront Park in Old Towne Laurel plays host to colorful migrating foliage and visitors taking in the autumn's remaining days of sunbeams, gentle winds and tranquil refrains.

After spending nearly half the month on the road today I decided to take a walk in the park. The Riverfront Park located at the end of Main Street is a one of Laurel’s many hidden treasures.

The park spans more than 3 miles and offers a host of sights, sounds and stimulation for a brisk early morning walk or a casual afternoon stroll. I couldn’t help myself and had to take out my camera and capture the remaining hues, hum and splendor of Autumn in Laurel.

While many of the colorful leaves have already fallen and now line the walking trails and pathways, the beige, brown and faint amber tints still create a kaleidoscopic scene that is breathtaking. My camera work is not as steady as I would like; however, the magnificence of the park still shows through.

With only days left before we return to daylight saving time, it was a great point in the season to make a visit to the park. Today’s walk was filled with such luxurious tones and tunes, that I was tempted to camp out. However, the anticipated chill and active woodland creatures dissuaded me. Still the squawking foul, scampering squirrels and migrating foliage welcomed my visit with a natural world composition that I was delighted to capture in a series of videos clips and digital photos.

This fall I’ve traveled to the Keystone State, Empire State, First State and even Wild and Wonderful and enjoyed the natural and manmade beauties each state had to offer. However, by far it was best to return home and appreciate the brilliance in my own backyard. Laurel is full of finery, but much of it is hidden. Too bad for those lacking knowledge of these concealed naturally occurring illustrations - but lucky for me to have stumbled upon this serene cache.
