MARC Trains Resume Service After Bridge Strike: MTA

Three trains experienced delays Friday morning after bridge incident, Maryland Transit Administration reported.

LAUREL, MD – After a bridge was hit, transportation officials said that several MARC trains were delayed Friday morning.

Between approximately 8 and 9 a.m., trains were stopped so that inspectors could evaluate the bridge strike.

By 9 a.m., trains had resumed service and the railroad had reopened, but three trains were running 10 to 30 minutes late, according to the Maryland Transit Administration: Train 844 is operating 30 minutes late, train 846 is 26 minutes late and train 851 is 10 minutes late.

The delay came after a temporary closure of the railroad.

Shortly after 8:15 a.m., the Maryland Transit Administration provided the following statement: "Due to a bridge strike around Main Street in Laurel. MARC trains 844, 846 and possibly 851 will be delayed for an undetermined amount of time. Maintainers are en route to inspect bridge. ETA 30 minutes. Train traffic will come to a halt around affected area. Metro will honor MARC tickets on the Camden Line."

The affected trains are on the Camden line, which runs between Camden Yards and Washington, D.C.
