The quickest way to get caught up on all things going on today in town.

Good morning, people of Laurel! It's me again, Alexis Goring, your host of the Laurel Daily.
First, today's weather: Rain in the evening. High: 92 Low: 72.
Here are the top three stories today in Laurel:
1. Prince George's County Board of Education have been in virtual meetings for months while they debated with Dr. Juanita Miller, the appointed board chair. Six board members — Edward Burroughs, Joshua Thomas, David Murray, Kenneth Harris, Shayla Adams-Stafford and Raaheela Ahmed — have turned to the state Board of Education to ask that Miller be removed. (WTOP)
2. Rev. Dr. Earl D. Trent Jr., senior pastor of Florida Avenue Baptist Church, had a medical emergency that happened May 12 in the pool at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex in Landover. Trent later learned of the multifaceted action plan that was activated to remove him from the pool, get him resuscitated and guide the ambulance's arrival. (WTOP)
3. County officials from across the nation recently gathered in Prince George's County to discuss issues counties are facing. The National Association of Counties, which represents 3,069 counties throughout the country, is holding its 2021 annual conference in-person and virtually from July 9 to July 12 in Prince George's County. Guest speakers include Vice President Kamala Harris, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. (WTOP)
