🌱County Library Honors Black History + Laurel Lifts Mask Mandate

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Laurel.

(Patch Media)

Hello, neighbors! Alexis Goring here with your Tuesday edition of the Laurel Daily.

First, today's weather:

Breezy with periods of sun. High: 57 Low: 40.

Here are the top three stories today in Laurel:

  1. The Prince George's County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) opens two new exhibits that offer Prince Georgians an opportunity to engage with Black history and culture in celebration of Black History Month. The two exhibits that opened in February are "In Freedom's Name" and "Black and Proud+."The Library will honor Black and intersectional cultural identities year-round with programs, curated collections, and educational resources. (Press Release Desk )
  2. As of Monday, face coverings will no longer be required in city of Laurel buildings and facilities. However, all senior van transportation drivers, and other public transportation drivers, plus all passengers must wear face coverings while riding in vehicles. (Laurel Patch)
  3. Grade 3 winner Wondrwherecraigis breezed an easy half-mile Saturday at Laurel Park ahead of a still-to-be-determined next start. Wondrwherecraigis went four furlongs in 50 seconds over a fast main track, ranking 11th of 32 horses. It was the second work for the 5-year-old gelding since extending his win streak to two races with a 3 ¾-length triumph in the Jan. 29 Fire Plug at Laurel. (Past The Wire)

Looking for a healthy alternative to that mid-week glass (or three) of wine? Our partners at Betera set out to create beverages that were sophisticated and flavorful enough to drink at cocktail hour but with zero hangover risk. (Their motto is "Drink like there's tomorrow.") Betera's drinks are designed by a Michelin-starred chef using natural botanicals — they're lightly effervescent, sippable, refreshingly bitter and at home in a stem glass or in a highball on the rocks. Betera offers three recipes — Rhubarb-Hibiscus, Elderflower-Lime and Ginger-Orange. We've tried all three and loved them equally — we recommend the mixed case as a great place to start. Betera has extended their 15% discount on first orders to Daily readers, in appreciation for the enthusiastic response so far. Enter Patch15 at checkout and https://bit.ly/TryBetera.
