🌱Curbside Pickup Program Not For Laurel + KN95 Mask Distribution

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Laurel.

(Patch Media)

Happy Thursday, Laurel! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening today.

First, today's weather:

Some sun, then clouds; warmer. High: 67 Low: 58.

Here are the top three stories today in Laurel:

  1. According to Patch reporter Kristin Danley-Greiner, the new Prince George's County curbside pickup program that allows two bulky items to be placed with the regular trash does not apply to households in Laurel. While the City of Laurel is not part of the new county program, the department has formed an internal committee to consider implementing a similar program. Meanwhile, residents who want a special bulky pickup, must call 301-725-0088 or email dpw@laurel.md.us on a Monday before 4:00 p.m. (Laurel Patch)
  2. Steven Walfish's Workin On a Dream, second to nine-time stakes winner Cordmaker in each of his last two starts, won't have that rival to face as he chases his first stakes victory in the $100,000 John B. Campbell. Workin On a Dream will be making his first start since a 3 ½-length loss to Grade 3-placed Cordmaker in the Robert T. Manfuso Dec. 26. (Past The Wire)
  3. Governor Larry Hogan recently urged members of the Maryland Congressional Delegation to take immediate action in raising the cap on H-2B guest worker visas. This is in response to a newly released study that shows the impact that these workers have on Maryland's iconic seafood industry and the state's economy. The new study was conducted on behalf of the Chesapeake Bay Seafood Industry Association with support from the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA), and is based on direct input from crab processing businesses.
