Estranged Wife Charged In FBI Agent Ex-Husband's Murder

An estranged wife was arrested and charged in the shooting of her husband, a retired FBI agent from Laurel.

LAUREL, MD — Laurel Police charged a woman in the March murder of a retired FBI special agent. On Friday, police arrested Anne Reed Allen, the estranged wife of the victim, Scott Alan Horn.

Around 9 p.m. on March 16, Laurel Police responded to the unresponsive victim at the 200 block of Patuxent Road. Police found Horn, 62, dead with major upper body trauma in the yard.

Allen was soon identified as the suspect. Laurel Police, Prince George's County Police and State’s Attorney’s Office investigated and built a case over the last few months to issue an arrest warrant.

Allen is charged with 1st degree murder, 2nd degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and the use of a handgun in a crime of violence. She was taken to the Prince George’s County Correctional facility and is held without bond.

Maryland online court records show that Allen was charged with violating a protective order Horn had against her in August 2016.

A family member told The Baltimore Sun in March that Horn was one of the FBI agents that investigated the 2002 sniper attacks across the DC region.
