Laurel, MD. –Along with a new town center in Laurel, comes a new church. Uplift Church will start its weekly Bible Study on Wednesday June, 4th from 7-8pm at 13910 Laurel Bowie Rd. Laurel, MD. Uplift starts the weekly series based on Rick Warren’s book, “What On Earth Am I Here For”. The most basic question everyone faces in life is why am I here? What is my purpose? People are tired of jobs, relationships and friends that don’t help them fulfill their purpose in life, says Rev. Marquez Ball, Uplift’s pastor. “Laurel is experiencing an economic uplift, with new residents and business; we want to bring a spiritual uplift as well. We want to help find their purpose in life.”
Uplift’s one hour Bible Study will feature powerful gospel music and relevant life changing teaching. Dress will be casual and comfortable; your favorite pair of jeans or your best suit is perfectly fine. Grab a free cup of coffee in the Uplift Café, sign the kids in to Uplift Kids and get ready to be lifted.
The ground work for Uplift has been laid over several months. A small group of about 20 people have been planning since November 2013 and September 14, 2014 will be the official launch of the church. There is still time for community residents to take part in planning the church launch.
According to Rev. Ball, Uplift’s mission is to uplift the minds, hearts and spirits of young adults who are ready for change in their life. “Many young adults between ages 25-35 love God but hate church because their parents or grandparents church no longer speak to their issues.”, says Hasani Isom a member of the launch team.“Someone has to reach the leaders of today to let them know that the church can be vital to lifting your mind, heart and spirit.” Although targeted to the so-called 20 to 30 something’s, Ball believes that the churches style will resonate with a wide range of age groups. “People are not necessarily less religious today than they were 20 years ago,” he says. “They are just looking for different things from their church experience.”
