🌱 Frozen On Ice Show Coming To Laurel + Win $3K For Conserving Water!

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Laurel.

(Patch Media)

Happy Wednesday, Laurel! Here are the most important things going on today in town.

First, today's weather:

Clouds giving way to some sun. High: 61 Low: 47.

Here are the top three stories today in Laurel:

  1. Residents of Laurel can win $3,000 toward their home utility payments, water saving fixtures and hundreds of other prizes if they conserve water! The annual challenge that runs April 1-30 is a non-profit national community service campaign that encourages leaders to inspire their residents to make a series of simple pledges at mywaterpledge.com to use water more efficiently, reduce pollution and save energy. (Patch)
  2. The Maryland State Education Association held an assembly on Saturday where the candidates for governor gave speeches in hopes of winning the endorsement of the state's largest union, the 76,000-strong educators. Most of the nine Democrats for governor who spoke touted their own public school educations or their teachers. They also professed their dedication to funding and implementing the Blueprint for Maryland's Future, which is the revamping of state schools recommended by the Kirwan Commission and backed by the union. 3. The Gardens Figure Skating Club will present its annual spring ice show, Frozen on Ice, this Saturday, April 9, at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel. Frozen on Ice is a figure skating show based on "Frozen: The Broadway Musical." (Patch)

From our sponsor:

Where should you invest as a Laurel resident with a $149,000 nest egg? Thanks to a change in the legal code, there's a new investment Laurel residents need to know about. In fact, Bloomberg asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now and many of them chose it.

This may surprise you, but it's fine art.

Growing your nest egg with art isn't new. Wealthy families like the Rockefellers have done it for centuries.

Here's why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)

Translation: Art could be one of the best investments for uncertain times.

Luckily for you, we found Masterworks. This revolutionary platform lets you invest in art by Warhol, Monet, Picasso without spending millions.

The best part? Anyone from your area can skip their waitlist*.
