🌱Helping Job Seekers Find Employment + Harvest Moon Hayride

Welcome to the Laurel Daily, your go-to for updates on all things Laurel.

(Patch Media)

Good morning, Laurel! Let's get you all caught up to start this Wednesday, Nov. 3, off on an informed note. Here's everything you need to know about what's happening around town today.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and cool. High: 52 Low: 31.

Here are the top three stories today in Laurel:

  1. Peter Franchot, Comptroller and Democratic gubernatorial candidate, said if he is elected to serve Maryland as the governor, he will require young children who attend schools to get vaccinated against the Coronavirus. According to Franchot, this mandate would be contingent upon both CDC approval of the vaccine for children ages 5-11 and the recommendation of medical professionals. (MarylandReporter.com)
  2. Yesterday was an exciting time for jobseekers! They were offered the opportunity to meet employers and interview for jobs, thanks to Employ Prince George's, which hosted a job fair at City of Praise Family Ministries in Landover. About 1,000 jobs were available from retail to hospitality to health care. The job fair is over now, but you can still browse some of the same job openings online at the Employ Prince George's website. (WTOP)
  3. A Harvest Moon Hayride will be hosted by Laurel Parks & Recreation on Nov. 12, at 6:00 p.m.! Masks are required on the tractor, which will take riders on a hayride along the Patuxent River. Drinks, snacks and entertainment will be held around a roaring bonfire. Pre-registration cost is $4 per person, but kids under 2 years old ride free. You can pre-register at either the Robert J. DiPietro Community Center, Laurel Armory, or online using our registration site. (Facebook)
