The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Laurel.

(Patch Media)

Morning, Laurel! Here's everything you need to know to get this Monday started off right.

First, today's weather:

Breezy; a little p.m. rain. High: 67 Low: 30.

Here are the top three stories in Laurel today:

  1. American Legion Post 60 in Laurel will host a Holiday Craft Fair on Dec. 11 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Guests may enter by the side door to Allen Hall. There will be 56 vendors there with a large variety of products. Food will be available for sale. Masks are required. (Laurel MD Connect)
  2. Governor Larry Hogan announced Dec. 3 that state health officials have confirmed the first three cases of the COVID-19 Omicron variant in Maryland residents. All three of the cases involve individuals from the Baltimore Metropolitan Region. Two cases are from the same household, including a vaccinated individual who recently traveled to South Africa and an unvaccinated person who was in close contact of that individual. None of the three individuals are hospitalized. (Maryland.gov)
  3. Prince George's County is closing its Emergency Rental Assistance Program (EARP) application portal at 3:00 p.m. on Dec. 15. The application portal is being closed to ensure that the county's Department of Housing and Community Development has the funding it needs for the open applications. Records show that $42 million has been paid out for over 5,200 households since March. (WTOP)
