Here are the top five stories today in Laurel:
- Six people have been displaced following a house fire early Friday morning in Laurel. Prince George's County Fire officials said that no one was injured in the incident. (WJLA)
- Despite growing concerns about the COVID-19 Delta variant, vaccination numbers around the region on Thursday remained far below peak levels seen in the spring. The CDC has estimated that more than 80% of new COVID-19 cases around the country are connected to the Delta variant. (WUSA9.com)
- GMP Stables, Arnold Bennewith and Cypress Creek Equine's Grade 3 winner Harpers First Ride and Maryland's leading trainer Claudio Gonzalez, will look to keep their mojo going Saturday in defense of last year's victory in the $100,000 Deputed Testamony at historic Pimlico Race Course. The Deputed Testamony is among three $100,000 stakes on a nine-race program. This is a part of the Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred Championship (MATCH) Series. (laurelpark.com)
