🌱 Laurel Lions Club Hosts Crab Fundraiser +Fire Prevention Month
Tune into everything going down in town with the Laurel Daily.

Hello, neighbors! It's me again, Alexis Goring, your host of the Laurel Daily.
First, today's weather:
Warm; cloudy, then some sun. High: 76 Low: 57.
Here are the top four stories today in Laurel:
- Fire Prevention Month takes place every October. This year, the theme is "Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety." Mayor Craig A. Moe said it's time to better educate people about the sounds smoke alarms make, what they mean, and how to respond to them. Statistics show that almost three out of five U.S. home fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarms (41 percent) or smoke alarms that failed to operate (16 percent). (City of Laurel)
- The new Monarch Preschools invites you to drive by and Fall Into Fun this Friday (Oct. 15) between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Kids can pick out and paint a pumpkin and receive a free gift. Part-time and full-time enrollment is now open for children ages 3 to 5. (Facebook)
- The Thrifty Teacher is hosting a Trunk or Treat Family Festival on Oct. 31 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in conjunction with the Whiskey Bottom Shopping Center Businesses. Currently, they are gathering people to host "trunks" with the added bonus of being able to promote themselves and/or their businesses. (TheThriftyTeacher.com)
- The Laurel Lions Club is holding a Crab Fundraiser! It is doing advanced orders only that must be received by Oct. 20. Call Don Danneman at 301-467-0605 to get your order in today! If you place an order, you will be able to pick up your crabs on Oct. 23 at 204 Fort Meade Road in the parking lot. All the proceeds will help our community! (Twitter)
