Laurel Man Guilty For Fatal DC Shooting: U.S. Attorney

LAUREL, MD — A Laurel man was found guilty of first-degree murder while armed and other related charges in a 2015 fatal shooting in Northwest Washington, U.S. Attorney Channing D. Phillips announced Thursday.

Mark Beasley, 44, is scheduled for sentencing Oct. 13, 2017. According to government's evidence, Beasley killed one man and injured another at the Takoma Station Tavern April 25, 2015.

A man and his close friend went to the Takoma Station Tavern to support their friend, a percussionist in a band. At the end of the night at about 2 a.m., the two men were approached by Beasley and got in an argument, Phillips said.

Beasley approached the men in their vehicle and opened fire, Phillips said. Darryn Conte, 39, was shot multiple times and died, while his friend was shot once and survived his injury.

Beasley was arrested on April 30, 2015 and has been in custody ever since, Phillips said.
