- The Prince George's County Democratic Central Committee on Tuesday unanimously chose Del. Ronald L. Watson to fill the District 23 State Senate vacancy created by the resignation of Douglas J.J. Peters. The recommendation will be forwarded to Gov. Larry Hogan, who has 15 days to formally appoint Watson to the post. (WTOP)
- Glenn Luther, Laurel resident, dropped everything to implore a local congressman to help Afghan journalists get to safety. They are his former photojournalism students who are struggling to find a way to flee Afghanistan. Luther went to Afghanistan in 2003 to teach aspiring Afghan journalists, helping to found the country's first school on the subject. (Warren Tribune Chronicle)
- The newly opened University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center in Largo marks the health system's latest step in improving health in Prince George's County. Part of UM Capital's changeUP movement, the $543 million hospital aims to address regional health disparities by expanding community access to high-quality care. (Washington Business Journal)
- All MGM properties, including MGM National Harbor in Prince George's County, will require some current employees and all new hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, but the new policy does not yet apply to many customer-facing employees. (WTOP)
