Laurel Mayor Among State’s Highest Paid
Craig Moe's day job at state transit administration lands him on a list of highest paid state employees.
Laurel Mayor Craig Moe has landed on a list of the highest paid employees in the state, according to a report by The Washington Examiner.
In a list that ranks more than 11,000 of Maryland and Virginia’s highest paid state employees, Moe lands at the lower echelons of the tally, making $93,000 annually from his job at the Maryland Transit Administration. That figure does not include the $20,000 Moe is paid annually for his part-time job as mayor of the City of Laurel.
Moe has held several positions within the state government and Maryland Department of Transportation since the 1970s. He’s currently the fleet manager with the Transit Administration, a position he has held since 2008 according to his LinkedIn profile.

In all, the list, which was obtained through a public information request, ranks salaries as of January from $75,000 to $799,000. The list is mostly occupied by state education officials — ranking E. Albert Reece, vice president for medical affairs at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, as the state’s highest paid employee with an annual salary of $799,547. By comparison, Gov. Martin O’Malley ranks at 1,719 with an annual salary of $150,000.
