The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Laurel.

Good morning, Laurel! Let's get you started this Tuesday with everything you need to know going on around Laurel today.
First, today's weather:
Cooler with clouds and sun. High: 41 Low: 29.
Here are the top three stories today in Laurel:
- A new program launched by the National League of Nursing in partnership with Johnson & Johnson, will allow Bowie State University senior nursing students to get a head start developing leadership and workplace skills to help ensure greater success as they enter their first positions in the field. "Transitioning Senior Nursing Students in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) into Clinical Practice" is a program that will bring a year long, multi-faceted program in leadership development to Bowie State and five other HBCUs that offer four-year baccalaureate degrees in nursing. (Bowie State)
- Laurel Park track remains partially closed because the work on the Laurel Park main track is underway. On Monday, horses were only be permitted to gallop on the outer portion of the track, with no workers allowed. There is no word yet as to when the track may fully reopen. It was the eighth consecutive day without works at the central Maryland track. (theracingbiz.com)
- The pandemic is stretching two years strong now and the need for food is higher for people who have lost their jobs or receive a lower income. In an effort to meet that need, volunteers with five public safety agencies in Prince George's County packed and distributed holiday food packages for families and seniors across the county on Monday.
