🌱 Laurel Store Robbers Arrested + The Hideout Comedy Lounge Show

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Laurel.

(Patch Media)

Hello, neighbors! Alexis Goring here with the Thursday Laurel Daily.

First, today's weather:

Some sun, then clouds. High: 70 Low: 55.

Here are the top three stories today in Laurel:

  1. Police have charged two suspects for their alleged roles in two robberies earlier this year at two stores in Laurel. Kamisha Juanique Loftin and Thais Genaro Williams were accused of robbing a Dollar Tree and Family Dollar at gunpoint. Both stores are located in the same block on Laurel Fort Meade Road. (wmar2news.com)
  2. Bowie State University students participated in Earth Week activities late last month. BSU and its partners at the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay hosted the Arbor Day Tree Planting as part of the Peace Park revitalization on campus. More than 35 volunteers planted six native trees that will provide important air and water quality benefits, sequester carbon and serve as a habitat for wildlife and pollinators. The trees were planted on the Peace Plot. (Bowie State)
  3. All options remain on the table when it comes to the next start for The Elkstone Group's multiple stakes-winning Maryland homebred Joe, part of trainer Michael Trombetta's string at Laurel Park, including the 2022 Preakness Stakes, Middle Jewel of the Triple Crown. The Grade 1, $1.5 million Preakness on May 21 anchors a blockbuster weekend of 16 stakes, 10 graded, worth $3.8 million in purses that begins the previous day with the Black-Eyed Susan (G2) Day program.
