Here are the top three stories in Laurel today:

  1. According to Prince George's County Police, a thief who jumped in a car at a gas station in Laurel on Saturday night sped off with two children in the backseat. The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 13700 block of Baltimore Avenue. After driving a block, the thief gave up the car and ran away, leaving the kids in the vehicle. Both children were soon found safe. (WUSA9.com)
  2. Corrales Racing LLC's Air Token won Saturday's $100,000 Maryland Million Sprint by 2 ¼ lengths over a late-closing Double Crown at Laurel Park. Air Token raced second behind the longshot Valued Notion under jockey J.D. Acosta. Air Token took over down the stretch before covering the six furlongs in 1:09.63. (Paulick Report)
  3. Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks joined leaders in celebrating the construction of the new Liberty Sports Park located in Upper Marlboro. The park is slated to open by Spring 2022. It will include multi-use fields. Alsobrooks touted it as the mid-Atlantic region's premier sports complex. The park will also feature on-site dining, hotel and entertainment options in hopes of giving the county's economy a boost. (WTOP)
