🌱Local HS Graduate Inspires Football Team + Snow Emergency
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Laurel.

Happy Tuesday, neighbors! Here are the most important things going on around town today.
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny. High: 35 Low: 22.
Here are the top three stories in Laurel today:
- The Washington Football Team is hurting from its 20-16 loss to the Eagles on Sunday. But despite the team's struggles, running back Jaret Patterson has emerged as a source of optimism in the running game. Since Antonio Gibson landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier this week, the rookie was thrust into a starting role vs. Philadelphia. He took the opportunity and ran with it. Patterson attended St. Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel. Sunday was his first-ever time starting as an RB1 in the NFL. (WTOP)
- Governor Larry Hogan recently provided an update on the state's ongoing response to the winter storm that has brought heavy snowfall to the region and caused major impacts on roads and transportation systems. The National Weather Service said that travel conditions remain hazardous across much of central and southern Maryland. Call 511 or visit md511.org for travel updates. (Maryland.gov)
- When Juwan Blocker began his college career as a freshman entering Bowie State University, he was already a county official, having been elected to the Prince George's County School Board at just 17 years old. Now, the Maryland native is graduating with his bachelor's degree in history and concentration in government and looking forward to continuing his career in politics. During his time at BSU, Blocker enlisted in the military, started a family and expanded his career in public service. One of Blocker's biggest lessons at BSU has been managing his work-life balance as he faced the challenge of juggling school, career, and family responsibilities, while his pregnant wife and their child battled COVID-19.
