Lots of Letters for Military
World War 1, American Legion, Laurel, military, army, navy, air force, marines, Bond Mill Elementary

Kudos and thanks to students from 7 classes at Laurel’s Bond Mill Elementary school who created hundreds of letters and artwork for US soldiers, sailors, Air Force and other military services. Students who attend the school brought them to the Laurel Museum on Flag Day (June 14) and gave them to Commander Lee Luby of American Legion Laurel Post 60. The Legion will mail them to active service men and women around the world. The LHS’ Letters for the Military project is part of the Museum’s current exhibit: “Laurel’s World War1: From Here to Over There” exhibit. The exhibit runs through December, 2017. Children and adults are invited to visit the Museum, write a letter or draw a picture, put it in the mailbox, and the Legion will mail. Holding some of the letters and artwork: L-R:Maiya Kvale, Anjanine Kvale ( lst grader), Lee Luby, Anders Kvale (7th grader), Mathias Kvale, 5th grader). The Laurel Museum located at 817 Main Street, Laurel and admission is free. The Museum is open Wed/Fri 10 am-2pm and Sunday 1-4pm. Photo: Karen Lubieniecki/Laurel Historical Society
