Marijuana, Cocaine Sold From Day Care In Laurel: Police
A Laurel man is charged with drug trafficking out of a day-care business there; police say children were not around the drugs.

LAUREL, MD — A Laurel man is charged with drug trafficking out of a home-based day-care business there; Anne Arundel County Police say children were not around the drugs. Kamran Awan, 18, of the 8600 block of Accokeek Street in Laurel, faces two drug charges after a raid by the Anne Arundel County Police narcotics unit on Sunday afternoon.
As officers executed a search and seizure warrant at the residence they reportedly found nearly $12,000 in drugs and thousands more in cash. The basement of the residence operates as Sultana Saba Daycare, a licensed daycare facility. Authorities believe the children cared for at the business did not have access to where drugs were located. The Maryland Department of Education Licensing Branch was notified to follow up.
During the raid police seized:- 595.33 grams of marijuana including packaging with an estimated street value of $11,906
- 2.96 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $59
- Seized $9,305 in cash
- Heat sealer machine
- Various paraphernalia and packaging materials
Awan is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of marijuana.
