(Patch Media)

Good morning, neighbors! Alexis Goring here with a fresh issue of the Laurel Daily.

First, today's weather:

Increasingly windy. High: 51 Low: 35.

Here are the top three stories today in Laurel:

  1. Locals can help Ukraine by bringing donations to Laurel Municipal Center today. Donations that are needed include: medical supplies, infant formula, diapers, blankets, and general humanitarian aid items. All items will be flown to Ukraine to meet the needs of the people there. (Laurel MD Connect on Facebook)
  2. The University of Maryland plans to start building a practice facility for the men's and women's basketball teams. According to Athletic Director Damon Evans, they've raised "nearly $40 million" to build the new basketball performance center. Prior to this, Maryland was the only Big Ten Conference school without a dedicated practice facility for both its men's and women's teams. (WTOP)
  3. Maryland Day Weekend is March 25 through March 27. Visit the state capital (Annapolis) and enjoy the celebration! Family-friendly events that explore the diverse stories of our state's history, heritage, and culture, will take place at over 20 Anne Arundel County locations during this weekend.
