Monarch Global Academy names Mark McCalpin dean of middle school

LAUREL, Md.—Monarch Global Academy, a public contract school in Laurel, Anne Arundel County, named Mark McCalpin dean of middle school. McCalpin brings 12 years of experience in education.

“I am excited and honored to begin my first year as the dean of middle school for Monarch Global Academy, where I hope to continue to make a positive impact on students’ academic experience and aid in their quest to become lifelong learners,” McCalpin said.

“I feel very fortunate to work with such a dedicated staff, hard-working students, supportive parents, and caring community and look forward to all of the challenges we will face and all the successes we will achieve together.”

Prior to joining Monarch Global Academy, McCalpin held teaching positions with Anne Arundel County Public Schools, including mathematics teacher specialist, instructional specialist, Title I compensatory education teacher specialist and classroom teacher in the schools.

McCalpin received his bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his master’s degree in education from Goucher College in Baltimore. He lives in Annapolis.

Monarch Global Academy, part of the TranZed Alliance, offers an International Baccalaureate education for students in kindergarten through eighth grade, emphasizing transdisciplinary learning and international-mindedness.
