Murray Hill Middle School Students Learn About Grassroots

Representatives of Howard County's 24-hour crisis intervention center met with students to discuss services.

Cathy Smith, Grassroots Outreach Coordinator to the Howard County Public School System, and Nicole DeChirico, Director of Grassroots Crisis Services, made a presentation on Change Matters to the 8th graders at Murray Hill Middle School as part of their Student Service Learning requirement. Change Matters is an initiative that educates young people about homelessness in Howard County and the services provided by Grassroots, Howard County’s 24-hour crisis intervention center. Murray Hill Middle School has participated in Change Matters for the past three years in an effort to raise awareness about poverty and engage students in community service and philanthropy.
