Nando'S PERi-PERi Fires Up Laurel

Flame-Grilled Chicken on Menu in $130 Million Laurel Towne Centre

Laurel, MD – September 24, 2014 – Nando’s PERi-PERi, the South African-Portuguese restaurant known worldwide for its succulent and spicy flame-grilled chicken, is hatching its newest location today in Laurel. Nandocas will be firing up their grills at the 134-seat restaurant, in the newly renovated Laurel Towne Centre on Route One.

“We marinate our chicken in PERi-PERi, also called Bird’s Eye chili, for at least 24 hours, then flame-grill it and baste it to our customers’ preferred spice,” said Burton Heiss, CEO of Nando’s PERi-PERi USA. “We think our newest customers in Laurel will really embrace our devotion to detail and fiery PERi-PERi flavors.”

All Nando’s restaurants feature unique designs and original contemporary South African artwork, and the Laurel location is no exception. A dramatic lighting sculpture made from woven baskets is suspended from the ceiling. An oversized portrait by Cape Town artist Mustafa Maluka dominates the back wall. And African tribal motifs and colors pop out on the restaurant’s handmade tiles, beaded-wood “Abacus” screen and 15-foot communal table. Outside, guests dine under vintage Tivoli lights in the 48-seat patio.
