LAUREL, MD-- The roan colored thoroughbred Napoleon Solo won Saturday's running of the 151st Preakness Stakes at Laurel Park. The second leg of horse racing's Triple Crown took place at Laurel Park this year as Pimlico Race Course was demolished in June 2025 for a $400 million renovation.
Napoleon Solo claimed the $2 million purse after narrowly beating out Iron Honor and Chip Honcho respectively in a final home stretch win. The weather was perfect for the pack of fourteen horses to blaze the mile and three-sixteenths course.
There will be no triple crown winner this year because Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo's trainer, Cherie DeVaux opted out of running for the Black-Eyed Susan sash. Instead the first female Kentucky Derby winning trainer is focusing on keeping Golden Tempo healthy ahead of the Belmont Stakes in June.
