One Dead from Turf Motel Double Shooting: Police
Police ask anyone with information about shootings in Laurel to call 410–313–STOP or email hcpdcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov.

Laurel, MD — One person died and another was injured in a shooting early Saturday at the Turf Motel, according to police.
The suspect is believed to have known the victims in what officials said appeared to be an isolated incident.
Authorities were called to the Turf Motel in the 9800 block of Washington Boulevard in Laurel around 4:30 a.m. for a report of two people shot, according to a statement from the Howard County Police Department.

A woman was taken to Laurel Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased, while a man shot in the leg was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where police said he was expected to survive.
While investigators think the suspect knew the victims, the circumstances surrounding the shootings remain under investigation; anyone with information is encouraged to call police at 410–313–STOP or email hcpdcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov.

Washington Boulevard/US 1 was closed between Whiskey Bottom and North Laurel roads for investigation, and police said just before 10:15 a.m. that it had reopened.
