Laurel Man Killed in Route 1 Crash: Police
Police said the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.

LAUREL, MD – A pedestrian was killed Wednesday morning in Laurel trying to walk across Route 1, according to the Howard County Police Department.
Marcus Antonio Fletcher, 22, of Laurel, was crossing Washington Boulevard around 6:24 a.m. when he was hit by a car, police said. He was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash, according to officials.
Authorities reported that the driver of the car that hit him was uninjured. Frank Thomas Lee, 47, of Laurel, had been headed north on Washington Boulevard approaching Country Meadows Lane in his Toyota Camry at the time of the collision, according to police.

Washington Boulevard was closed between Whiskey Bottom Road and Maier Road for three and a half hours, according to police.
