Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Route 1 Crash In Laurel: Police
Police said that preliminary investigation showed the man was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.

LAUREL, MD — A pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash Wednesday morning on Route 1/Washington Boulevard in Laurel, according to police.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a man in dark clothing was crossing Route 1 in the area of Madison Avenue at 6:11 a.m. and was not in a crosswalk when he was hit by a truck traveling south, police said.
The pedestrian — David Charles Roy, 61, of Laurel — was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where authorities said he was in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the 2014 Ford F-150 — Elmer Lopez Landaverde, 36, of Pasadena — was uninjured and stayed at the scene of the crash, according to authorities.
The investigation is ongoing, according to the Howard County Police Department.
