Here are the top three stories today in Laurel:

  1. Karim Kmaiha has served Lebanese food in Greenbelt for 14 years, but after he won $50,000 on a scratch-off lottery ticket, Kmaiha and his wife used the money to open Cedars of Lebanon. This Middle Eastern restaurant is located on 103 Centerway in the Roosevelt Center. It serves classic Mediterranean dishes like hummus and pita, shawarma, baba ghanoush, grape leaves, kibbeh, and falafel. It also offers several vegetarian options. (The Hyattsville Wire)
  2. Laurel Historical Society released a new holiday ornament this year that honors the history and natural beauty of The Grove in Laurel and its community. "The Grove" name originated from the large oak trees that grew there. It was the center of Laurel's African-American community beginning in the 19th century. (City of Laurel)
  3. Prince George's County's "Stuff-A-Truck" food distribution event sold out Friday at FedEx Field. This annual tradition helps thousands of Prince Georgians get what they need to put a Thanksgiving meal on the table. Volunteers handed out enough Thanksgiving food to feed 17,000 people. (WTOP)
