Here you have a company that is making an automobile with lots of room in the front and back. That can go from zero to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds with speed that is over 100mph. The catch it will not use one drop of gas. On a full electric charge it will travel 260 miles. Granted the cars start at 60K Plus, but once it mass produces the battery packs the cost will go down the CEO is looking a family car to drop down the mid 30K range. Tesla is building three plants in three states and will be expanding other operations. Putting the politicians in a box, because the elected officials and parties take money from the old guard! Yet try to slowdown this advancement and cannot fool the American People anymore.
Now I know why the far right have be a torn in the Presidents side. The President saw this and knew the power brokers would be pissed if this came to pass. You see folks it is not about what you and I think as citizens, it is about power who makes a dime out of the deal. Trillions are at stake and a bunch of fat cats are going to lose big time. Investors 401 K shifts and people will also make money but it will not be consolidated.
Tesla is working on setting up fuel stations throughout the country. SO why is this not catching on in the country? Lobbyist it is that simple. The Auto industry is scared as well as the oil industry. Trillions are at stake. I can say years ago, when I was younger, I would hear rumors about cars getting ex amount of mileage and people would be bought off. Thus the cars never came out. I do not know if that is true or not. But I can say lobbyist from the auto industry, oil industry, and the auto repair industry have been fighting tooth and nail to try and slow down Tesla Auto. Tesla is looking to be in mass production by 2017 up to 500.000 units per year. To include service stations nationwide.

This is why States have been lobbied to try and stop Tesla from opening up Stores in the Country or modified to where they only can sale so many units. Tesla has told the other auto makers that they would share their technology with them.
Just think of the shift on leverage that can be made just on not having to be depended on oil. I have come to the conclusion that the leverage of people who are the movers and shakers are feeling threaten and some guy in California is exposing it but in a graceful way.
