🌱Thrifty Teacher Hosts Summer Camp + Healing Walks On D.C. Mall

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Laurel.

(Patch Media)

Happy Monday, Laurel! Let's get you all caught up to start today off on an informed note.

First, today's weather:

Cold; a p.m. snow shower. High: 37 Low: 21.

Here are the top three stories in Laurel today:

  1. Apprentice Jockey Jeiron Barbosa, age 18, won first two US Mounts at Laurel Park last Friday. He made an immediate splash on the American racing scene by winning with each of his first two domestic mounts. Aboard Magic Stable's Heliacal Rising, Barbosa raced in mid-pack before sweeping to the lead on the far outside at the top of the stretch and passing Claudio Gonzalez-trained stablemate Chica Rabiosa to capture Friday's opener, a one-mile claimer for 3-year-old fillies. (Paulick Report)
  2. Maryland law enforcement are seeking a suspect and their vehicle in connection with the shooting death of a tow-truck driver on U.S. Route 50 in Prince George's County. Maryland State Police recently released images of a man suspected of shooting and killing Delonte Hicks on eastbound Route 50. Detectives believe Hicks and the suspect were involved in an argument while driving east on Route 50 when the suspect pulled a gun and fired into Hicks' vehicle then drove off before the police arrived. (WTOP)
  3. The Thrifty Teacher in Laurel is hosting a summer camp for kids! Register by March 31 to save 20% on Art Summer Camp. Attend this event, in person, Monday through Friday from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for artistic fun! All materials are provided for daily artistic creations, along with one featured fun activity per week (field trips, guest speakers, etc.). This camp is for school-aged children 5-12.
