Apartment Fire in North Laurel [UPDATED]

NORTH LAUREL, MD - A three-alarm apartment fire in North Laurel was brought under control Saturday morning.

The fire in the 9700 block of Country Meadows Lane was in a three-story building. Firefighters originally called for a two-alarm fire before it was upgraded to third alarm.

A heavy fire could be seen coming from the roof of building. A total of 22 residents were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross and apartment management.

Anne Arundel County and Prince George's County provided mutual aid.

The Red Cross released the following statement on the fire:

The American Red Cross of the Greater Chesapeake Region responded to an apartment complex fire on Country Meadows Lane in Howard County. Five Disaster Action Team volunteers were on scene and assisted 26 people.

The Red Cross met the resident's emergency needs of food, clothing, and shelter, as needed. Red Cross caseworkers will continue to follow up with the families over the next few days and weeks to help them create and execute a recovery plan.
