- An elderly woman and her dog were evacuated from a large house fire in Laurel on Thursday morning. The woman's husband was at the hospital for scheduled surgery and was not home during the fire. (WJLA)
- The Maryland Board of Public Works on Wednesday advanced Gov. Larry Hogan's plan to widen two highways in Montgomery County. Hogan and Comptroller Peter Franchot voted to accept one contract that will allow an international consortium to begin design work on the plan to add privately financed toll lanes to portions of the Capital Beltway and Interstate 270. - The Social Security Administration (SSA) continues to provide help for people during this current coronavirus pandemic. While its offices are not providing service to walk-in visitors due to COVID-19, SSA remains committed to providing ongoing benefits and vital services. It remains ready and able to help with most Social Security matters. (City of Laurel)
- The family of Olivia Paregol, a freshman attending University of Maryland, who died after an outbreak of adenovirus on the College Park campus in 2018, is now suing the school and two former officials. The family is seeking more than $100 million. (WTOP)
