USTA Honors Laurel Resident With USTA Foundation Scholarship
Blest Jones, Laurel, Md., a graduate of Abeka Academy, will attend Loyola University
USTA Foundation, the national charitable foundation of the United States Tennis Association, announced that two local high school students were awarded an $8,000 College Educational Scholarship. The Foundation granted 53 high school students nationwide a variety of college scholarships this spring, totaling $373,000.
The honorees were selected from applicants throughout the country on the basis of their commitment to academic success, to their local community and to their participation in tennis. An objective of the USTA Foundation is to encourage America’s youth to pursue their goals and highest dreams by succeeding in school and becoming responsible citizens.
The USTA Foundation awards the College Educational Scholarship annually to high school seniors who have excelled academically, demonstrated community service and participated in an organized tennis program. The $8,000 scholarship will be awarded over four years to students entering a two or four-year college or university. The following students are among the scholarship winners from across the nation:

· Blest Jones, Laurel, Md. – Graduate of Abeka Academy, will attend Loyola University
· Valeria Reyes-Chian, Fairfaz, Va. – Graduate of Chantilly High School, will attend University of Alabama
