18-Year-Old Shot in Wheaton; Suspects Sought
Montgomery County Police say shots were fired when a group of women were confronted by a group of young men.
An 18-year-old woman was shot several times when a group of young women fought with a group of young men early Wednesday at Plyers Mill Road and Douglas Avenue in Wheaton, according to Montgomery County Police.
Captain Paul Starks told Montgomery Community Media the victim was shot multiple times and is being treated at a local hospital for serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.
Police are interviewing witnesses, Starks said.

According to the police department’s blog, the victim and a group of females were walking in the area when they were met by a group of males about 5:23 a.m. A fight occurred and the teenager was shot.
Police said they believe there is some sort of association between the two groups.

The suspects and the gun have not been located.
