2 Teens Charged in Possible Gang Shooting of 18-Year-Old

Montgomery Police say shots were fired when a group of women were confronted by a group of young men. An 18-year-old woman was injured.

Two teens have been arrested in Wednesday’s shooting of an 18-year-old woman in Wheaton, which Montgomery County Police say may be gang related.

Montgomery County Police Spokesperson Cpl. Rebecca Innocenti said a 19-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night, reports Montgomery Community Media. Earlier in the day, a 13-year-old boy was charged with attempted murder and armed robbery in the case.

An 18-year-old woman was shot several times when a group of young women fought with a group of young men early Wednesday at Plyers Mill Road and Douglas Avenue in Wheaton, according to Montgomery County Police.

Captain Paul Starks told Montgomery Community Media the victim was shot multiple times and is being treated at a local hospital for serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.

According to the police department’s blog, the victim and a group of females were walking in the area when they were met by a group of males about 5:23 a.m. A fight occurred and the woman was shot.
