- The Sugarloaf Craft Festival returns to Gaithersburg fairgrounds this weekend. Friday hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Meadowside Nature Center is hosting aHalloween geocache hunt at 1 p.m. Registration required
- Don’t miss the “Eye Spy” Halloween Train at Cabin John Regional Park. Great for children under 8 years of age.
- Croyden Creek Nature Center in Rockville is celebrating with their Halloween Festival at 6 p.m.
- Wheaton Recreation Center’s Fall Harvest Festival beings at 6 p.m.
- A special performance of Not My Monkey at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn at 7 p.m.
- The Writer’s Center is hosting “Writing the War Experience” at 7 p.m. in Bethesda featuring readings and a panel discussion
- The AFI International Horror Film Fest screening of Housebound at 7:10 p.m. and Mar Negro (Dark Sea) at 9:45 p.m. in Silver Spring
- BlackRock Center for the Arts presents “An Evening with Groucho Marx” at 8 p.m.
- Olney Theatre presents Awake and Sing at 8 p.m.
- Bethesda Blues & Jazz present The Shirelles at 8 p.m.
Saturday, October 18
- The 18th Annual F.Scott Fitzgerald Literary Festival highlights literature and war. The festival begins at 9 a.m. with registration in the Executive Office Building in Rockville.
- Don’t miss the “Eye Spy” Halloween Train at Cabin John Regional Park. Great for children under 8 years of age.
- The Sugarloaf Craft Festival returns to Gaithersburg fairgrounds this weekend. Saturday hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Explore four private gardens in Washington and Chevy Chase, open for self-guided tours to benefit the Garden Conservancy.
- The Pumpkin TrolleyFest at the National Capital Trolley Museum is open from 12:30 to 3:50 p.m.
- Gaitherbsurg’s Arts on the Green program for young children features Not My Monkey at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- The Bethesda Row Arts Festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. is for the whole family
- Rockville’s Antique & Classic Car Show takes place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Glenview Mansion
- Join Wags for Hope for a family friendly, fundraising event at Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard
- Locust Grove Nature Center Nocturnal Neighbors Festival begins at 5 p.m. in Bethesda. Registration required.
- Albert Einstein HS invites all county high school students to their 15th Annual College Fair beginning at 6 p.m.
- Sandy Spring Fall Festival begins at 6 p.m. at the Sandy Spring Museum
- Olney Theatre presents Awake and Sing at 2 and 8 p.m.
