Bethesda Boy Launches Brain Tumor Research Campaign

6-year-old cancer patient has raised more than $61,000.

One week after his sixth birthday, Bethesda resident Michael Mosier was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The diagnosis altered his and his family’s lives and mobilized the community around them.

According to a news release, team “Big Hero Michael” was organized in anticipation of the Race for Hope on May 3 in Washington, D.C. The team is raising money for brain tumor research and aims to collect donations from around the world after Michael and his family successfully gathered contributions from all 50 states via his Facebook campaign.

Michael keeps track of the incoming donations himself by coloring every state and country his favorite shade of yellow with his ultimate goal being a completely yellow map.
