Olney Theatre Center’s Winter Productions Will Warm the Hearts of Audiences

Olney, MD- November 10, 2011- Olney Theatre Center, a 73-year-old professional, award-winning, year-round theatre, announces an array of winter productions that the whole family will enjoy, including The Sound of Music, Paul Morella’s solo performance in A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas and The Olney Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker.

Audiences can kick off the holiday season with the gracious and charming story of the von Trapp family who come together through the power of song in the production of The Sound of Music as it makes its first ever debut on Olney Theatre Center’s Mainstage. The Sound of Music, one of the most beloved shows in musical theatre, will keep audiences singing along to its infamous songs from November 16, 2011 until January 1, 2012.

Paul Morella also returns to Olney Theatre Center to bring his unique and memorable solo performance of A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas. Theatre enthusiasts will love this rendition of this an integral part of Christmas tradition and folklore as it graces the stage from December 14, 2011 until January 1, 2012. Recommended for ages 10 and up.

The Olney Ballet Theatre makes its return to the Historic Stage with its 50^th Anniversary production of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, which will run from December 9 through December 24, 2011. The Nutcracker will include original choreography from the Washington Ballet’s founder Mary Day, whose Nutcracker has been a holiday tradition in the Washington area for the past 50 years.
