Gaithersburg Woman Embezzled $54K from Citibank Branch
Norma Talley-Maccow pleaded guilty to scheme she ran from January 2009 to March 2010.

A former Citibank assistant manager has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $50,000 from her branch through a scheme in which she made scores of fraudulent transactions over the course of more than a year.
Norma Talley-Maccow, 47, of Gaithersburg was the assistant manager for a Citibank branch in Gaithersburg, where between January 2009 an March 2010, she made several transactions a month—between $20 and $600 at a time, and once for $1,500—that funneled Citibank funds into her personal account or that of a family member.
A company-wide audit the day after her March 22, 2010 transaction showed that Talley-Maccow’s teller box was missing more than $30,000, according to prosecutors.

When interviewed by federal investigators, Talley-Maccow admitted to a scheme in which she logged in as a teller, processed electronic transactions and made corresponding deposits into her Citibank account. She also made payments to a corporate credit card on which she had charged personal expenses, according to prosecutors.
The transactions totaled $54,251.28, but Citibank was able to recover $4,878.67. Prosecutors have recommended that she pay the remaining $49,372.61 as restitution.
