Latin Film Fest, Pumpkins Galore, Celtic Tenors: Weekend Events in Montgomery Co.

This weekend, Montgomery County hosts festivals celebrating the harvest, Latin films, YMCA, and a church bazaar.

Saturday, October 4

· Enjoy live music, food and more at the Hometown Get Down VII in Clarksburg to benefit The Bernie House beginning at 3 p.m.

· Zipline through the trees while supporting Montgomery Parks at Go Ape in Rock Creek Regional Park

· Find hidden treasures at the Germantown Community Flea Market at the MARC parking lot from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

· Enjoy family fun at the YMCA’s Annual Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Silver Spring

· Stroll through the Montgomery County Fairgrounds at the Antique & Collectible Show starting at 10 a.m.

· The 6th Annual Stop Modern Slavery WalkFest takes place on the National Mall starting at 10 a.m.

· Gaitherbsurg’s Arts on the Green program for young children features Bop Goes the Weasel at 11 a.m.

· Celebrate the arrival of autumn at the Immanuel Church’s Fall Fest in Silver Spring

· Young artists will be thrilled to learn “How to Draw Super Heroes!” with Cartoonist Paul Merklein at the White Oak Library at 1:30 p.m. Registration required.

· Capital Libations offers an exclusive tour and tutorial on the rich history of the Madison House at 3 p.m. in Brookeville

· Spencers’ Theatre of Illusion performs at the BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown at 7:30 p.m.

· Red Sammy performs an outdoor concert at the Whalen Commons Bandshell at 8 p.m.

· Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club presents The Larry Brown Quintet at 8:00 p.m.

Sunday, October 5

The 25th AFI Latin American Film Festival is underway now through Oct. 8.

· Stroll through the Montgomery County Fairgrounds at the Antique & Collectible Show starting at 10 a.m.

· Zipline through the trees while supporting Montgomery Parks at Go Ape in Rock Creek Regional Park

· Participate in JCADA’s 5K Walk or Run beginning at 8:30 a.m. in Rockville

· Enjoy strolling, shopping and dancing through Old Takoma at the Takoma Park Street Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

· County paper shredding and recycling event takes place at Takoma Park Middle School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

· Visit Germantown for the annual Oktoberfest celebration featuring live music, food, children’s games and more from noon to 7:30 p.m. at High Point Farm. Fireworks begin at dusk.

· The Cabin John Mall’s Fall Festival starts at 1 p.m.

· The Harvest Moon Festival takes place at the Silver Spring Civic Building beginning at 3 p.m.

· The candidates for Board of Education participate in a Candidates Forum at the Garrett Park Town Hall at 4:30 p.m.

· Folksinger and Storyteller Andrew McKnight performs at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Damascus at 4:30 p.m.

· Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the Takoma Park Community Center as Coral Cantigas perform at 4:30 p.m.

· The Kentlands Stadium 19 Theater hosts the Manhattan Short Film Festival at 7 p.m.

· Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club presents Jeff Lorber at 7:30 p.m.
