MoCo Woman Dies in Fatal Olney Crash

A pickup truck driven by a man who had worked overnight reportedly crossed the center line, striking the victim's SUV.

The pickup truck of a man who worked overnight on a road paving crew reportedly crossed the center line, crashing into a Laytonsville woman’s car Monday morning, says the Montgomery County Police Department .

Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue were called to the two-vehicle crash on Olney-Laytonsville Road (Route 108) at the entrance to OBGC Community Park about 5:30 a.m..

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2001 Ford F250 pickup truck was traveling west on Olney-Laytonsville Road. A 2010 Toyota RAV4 was traveling east on Olney-Laytsonville Road.

A 2001 Ford F250 pickup truck driven by Kenneth James Turner Jr., 25, of Mount Jackson, VA, reportedly drifted off the road and then swung back onto the road. Police say the pickup then crossed the center line and struck a 2010 Toyota RAV4 in the eastbound lanes of Route 108.

The driver of the SUV -- Leanna L. Muller, 51, of the 5800 block of Griffith Road in Laytonsville --died from her injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.

Turner was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During the overnight hours, Turner had had been paving a road as an employee of the Francis O Day Company. At the time of the accident, Turner was en route to the work site to drop off equipment. The vehicle that Turner was driving at the time of the collision is registered to Francis O Day Company.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
