Montgomery County Celebrates National Night Out
Residents mingled with police and emergency responders Tuesday night to stand up against crime and celebrate community spirit.

Montgomery County celebrated National Night Out against crime on Tuesday, with more than 30 gatherings from Gaithersburg to Olney to Germantown and more.
This event, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is designed to generate neighborhood support and participation in crime prevention efforts and to enhance police and community relations. Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, many communities celebrated with events to help neighbors get to know one another and to build community spirit.
County and city leaders, along with area police department members, mingled with residents. Many events had food, while police canine demonstrations were held, McGruff the crime dog visited with kids, and fire departments offered a close-up look at their trucks an other equipment.
