Montgomery Students Win National Achievement Scholarships
The $2,500 scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation recognize academic success by African American students.

Seven seniors from Montgomery County Public Schools have won the 2015 National Achievement Scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

According to a news release, the selective scholarship competition recognizes African American high school seniors with outstanding academic achievement. About 150,000 students nationally participated in the competition for these scholarships.
In September, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced 1,600 semifinalists in the competition, including 17 from MCPS.

The Montgomery recipients are among 32 students in Maryland who have been awarded scholarships. About 800 seniors across the nation received this award.
The program was established in 1964 and has given more than $100 million in college scholarships for the past 50 years, according to a news release.
Winners are awarded $2,500 scholarships. Here’s a list of the 2015 MCPS winners:
