New Allegations of Teacher Misconduct Raised by Students

Montgomery County Public Schools officials say more students have reported a former substitute teacher acted inappropriately.

New allegations of misconduct have surfaced in the case of a former substitute teacher who had worked at 20 Montgomery County Public Schools since the fall of 2013 and was recently charged with having inappropriate contact with a student.

The school system is notifying parents that it continues to look into the employment record of Jose Pineda, the teacher who was recently arrested for conduct at Roberto Clemente Middle School in Germantown.

School officials say the principals at these schools have been told to send a letter home to make parents aware that Pineda worked in the school and ask them to report any information about inappropriate conduct to the police and school administrators.

On Thursday the school system said that over the past two days, some students at Ridgeview Middle School in Gaithersburg and Gaithersburg Elementary School reported they had interactions with Pineda that were inappropriate or made them feel uncomfortable. The parents of these students have been consulted and police are investigating the allegations.
